Market size and demand 

During the period from 2016 to 2023, China's plastic film production increased from 14.1952 million tons to 16.832 million tons, maintaining a generally steady upward trend. 

In 2025, the market size of plastic film in China exceeded 180 billion yuan, and it is expected to continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 5.5%. By 2030, the market size is expected to reach or even exceed 300 billion yuan. 

Corporate News 

On May 19, 2025, it was reported that Guangdong Dekuan Film New Materials Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Dekuan Packaging Materials Co., Ltd. obtained a patent for the "Online Recycling and Processing System for Plastic Film Production Waste Edges". This system can be used to promptly recycle waste edges during the production of plastic films such as label films, thereby enhancing the utilization value of the waste edges. 

On May 9, 2025, a delegation led by Wang Zhanjie, the president of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, visited Hubei Huili Plastic Industry for research and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the development of cast film industry and the construction of special committees. 

Product price 

Entering the second quarter of 2025, all plastic film products continued to show weakness, with prices of various products experiencing declines to varying degrees. Throughout April (up to April 28th), the prices of all plastic film products dropped by 50 yuan/ton to 600 yuan/ton. For instance, BOPP fell by 75 yuan/ton, BOPET by 525 yuan/ton, and BOPA by 500 yuan/ton, etc.

Exhibition Information 

The 6th Anhui International Plastic Industry Expo in 2025 will open at the Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 23rd to 25th. 

• The 2025 Italian IPACK - IMA International Packaging Exhibition will be held at the New International Exhibition Center in Milan from May 27th to 30th.
